However, both teams will go head-to-head at 2:00 p.m. on Dec. 10 in the upcoming playoffs with the winner playing for the title. The other semi-final has Vailoatai Youth taking on Vaitogi United at 12:30 p.m.
Pago A is the defending champion of the division and will be going for only its third championship in the last four years.
Pago A and Vaitogi are through from Pool A while Vailoa and Pago B advance from Pool B. Only the top two teams from each pool qualify for the playoffs.
New divisions for the 2012 will be in place thanks to the standings from this year’s competition. The top four teams from each pool will compete in a Premiere, or First, Division in 2012 while the rest are to play in an FFAS Division II.
The teams for the 2012 Premiere Division are (top four from Pool A) Pago Youth A, Vaitogi Unite, Fagasa Youth Kiwi Soccers, (top four from Pool B) Vailoatai Youth, Pago Youth B, Black Roses and Utulei Youth.
Teams that did not make this year’s top four and any new teams wishing to enter the 2012 comeptition will start off in a second division. The top two teams from the 2nd and bottom two of the first divisions will have a playoff to determine the movement of teams up or down between groups.
Teams that will start off Division II in 2012 are Lion Heart A, Tafuna Jets, PanSa, Atu’u Broncos A, Green Bay, Vaiala Tongan, Fagatogo Blue, Lion Heart B, Ilaoa & To’omata, Atu’u Broncos B.
In Pool A matches played last Saturday, Pago Youth A beat Vaitogi United 7-0 in the last round of competition while in other games it was Fagasa Youth 7, Vaiala Tongan 0; Kiwi Soccers 6, Ilaoa & To’omata 1 and Fagatogo Blue 3, Lion Heart B 1.
The final standings of Pool A are No. 1 Pago Youth A (24 points), No. 2 Vaitogi United (18 points), No. 3 Fagasa Youth (18 points), No. 4 Kiwi Soccers (18 points), No. 5 Vaiala Tongan (10 points), No. 6 Fagatogo Blue (9 points), No. 7 Lion Heart B (5 points), No. 8 Ilaoa & To’omata (4 points) and No. 9 Atu’u Broncos B (0 points)
Vaitogi United is ranked ahead of Fagasa and Kiwi by goals differential. Vaitogi has 26 to Fagasa’s 20 and Kiwi’s 17.
In Pool B, Pago B won by forfeit over the Tafuna Jets, thereby securing their No. 2 seed while in other games it was Vailoatai Youth by forfeit over Green Bay; Utulei Youth 1, Lion Heart A 1 and Fagasa Youth 7, Vaiala Tongan 0.
The final standings for Pool B are No. 1 Vailoatai Youth (24 points), No. 2 Pago Youth B (15 points), No. 3 Black Roses (14 points), No. 4 Utulei Youth (12 points), No. 5 Lion Heart (12 points), No. 6 Tafuna Jets (10 points), No. 7 PanSa (7 points), No. 8 Atu’u Broncos A (4 points) and No. 9 Green Bay (1 point).
Utulei Youth takes the No. 4 spot over Lion Heart by way of a differential in goals, 6-1.
