Pago Youth easily retained the women’s FFAS National Cup with a 12-0 win over Lion Heart on Match Day 4 of the FFAS National League on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018 at Pago Park Soccer Stadium.
It was Pago Youth’s first defense of the cup since taking it away from Vaiala Tongan on Sept. 22, and the following week the new cup holders were on their bye weekend.
In other games, it was Black Roses 2, Green Bay 2; Utulei Youth 2, Vaiala Tongan 0; Ilaoa & To’omata 4, Tafuna Jets 0 and Taputimu Youth over Royal Puma by forfeit.
Royal Puma, the defending champions, was unable to field enough players for their game against Taputimu Youth.
PAGO YOUTH 12, LION HEART 0
Tulima Mauga led Pago Youth with five goals, while seven others had a goal each.
Regina Wright, Lydia Amisone, Saono Enesi, Sapina Tiumalu, Margaret Pola and Christina Mendoza all scored a goal each for Pago Youth.
Pago Youth will be challenged by Utulei Youth on Match Day 5 on Oct. 13, 2018.
BLACK ROSES 2, GREEN BAY 2
Despite playing with only nine players, Black Roses managed to tie with Green Bay 2-2.
Black Roses had many chances thanks to Agnes Siaosi’s excellent play, and she would help her team with two goals scored on the day. She missed many other chances that could have had Black Roses winning despite the numeric odds against them.
UTULEI YOUTH 2, VAIALA TONGAN 0
Loto Siatu’u and Nina scored in the second half to help Utulei Youth win against Vaiala Tongan.
Siatu’u scored in the first 10 minutes of the second half, and Nina gave the team the extra goal to cushion their win with the game winding down to avoid a potential draw.
ILAOA & TO’OMATA 4, TAFUNA JETS 0
Ama Faleao and Lela Hunkin scored two goals each in Ilaoa & To’omata’s victory over the Jets last Saturday.
The Leone-based team scored three goals in the first half before Hunkin completed her brace of goals in the second half.
