Fierce battle brewing for group’s No. 2 spots

Only the top two teams from each pool at the end of the regular season advance to the playoffs.
Pago Youth A leads the group but only by a slight margin — three points to be exact over three teams tied at 12 points each, No. 2 Fagasa Youth, No. 3 Vaitogi United and No. 4 Kiwi Soccers.
Pago A increased their lead with a 4-0 win over second place Fagasa Youth while in other Pool A matches it was Kiwi Soccers 3, Fagatogo Blue 2; Lion Heart B 1, Vaiala Tongan 1; Ilaoa & To’omata 8, Atu’u Broncos 0 while Vaitogi United was on its bye round.
There are only three rounds remaining in the competition before the playoffs and it’s going to be a tight race for these top four teams jockeying for a postseason berth.
On paper, at least, Pago A, Fagasa Youth and Vaitogi United should earn three points in Round 7 matches set for Nov. 5 as Pago A takes on No. 5 Vaiala Tongan, Fagasa plays No. 7 Ilaoa & To’omata while Vaitogi United goes up against No. 6 Fagatogo Blue and Kiwi Soccers.
The rest of the standings, with their points abbreviated, follows: No. 5 Vaiala Tongan (7); No. 6 Fagatogo Blue (6); No. 7 Ilaoa & To’omata (4); No. 8 Lion Heart B (2) and No. 9 Atu’u Broncos B (0).
Vailoatai Youth has a five-point lead over two teams, Pago Youth B and Lion Heart A at the complete of Round 6.
Vailoatai edged Black Roses 2-1 in a thrilling match while in other games it was Pago Youth B 5, Green Bay 0; Lion Heart A 3, PanSa 0 and Utulei Youth 2, Tafuna Jets 2.
Pago Youth B leads Lion Heart A by goals scored (14-8) but have a tough game this coming Saturday against Black Roses. Lion Heart A is idle this weekend.
The rest of Pool B’s standings, with their points parenthesis, follows: No. 4 Utulei Youth (8); No. 5 Black Roses (7); No. 6 Tafuna Jets (4); No. 7 PanSa (4); No. 8 Atu’u Broncos (4) and No. 9 Green Bay (1).
