Sharks make final bid for title

The teams are set to go head-to-head in the 2012-2013 ASHSAA Girls Soccer championship final on 28 February at Pago Park Soccer Stadium.
In earlier match-ups between the two championship contenders, Samoana has outscored Tafuna 11-1, winning the first game 7-1 and the second 4-0.
Samoana completed the season as the top team with an undefeated 10-0 record while the Warriors finished in second place. In third was Faga’itua and the fourth and final playoff spot went to South Pacific Academy.
In the playoffs, Samoana beat SPA 5-0 while Tafuna held off Faga’itua 3-0.
Ruby Fia completed a hat trick in the first half alone to help Samoana reach the title game. At the break the Sharks had led 4-0 but in the second half the Dolphins put up a strong fight to allow only one goal.
It was a back and forth match throughout with the Vikings missing several chances to equalize and Tafuna leading by only 1-0 after the 19th minute of the first half.
However it came down to just two minutes for Tafuna to put the game out of reach as they scored in the 36th and 38th minutes to earn a spot in the championship match against Samoana.
Schools are expected at the field of play by at least 4.30pm on the day of the game with the contest to kick off after the national anthems of American Samoa and the USA and player introductions.
