Black Roses lead Pool A with three rounds to go

The men’s 2010 National League resumes on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 after taking a break for the quarterfinals of the President’s Cup held on Oct. 30.
If the playoffs were held today Pago Youth B would be out of it as the teams from No. 1 to 6 in the standings are Black Roses, Kiwi Soccers, Fagasa Youth, Utulei Youth, Tafuna Jets A and Ilaoa & To’omata, respectively.
The top two seeds will rest while the fourth through sixth seeds duke it out in the first round of the playoffs.
Black Roses is on top with 10 points out of a possible 12 after winning three and drawing once. They will take on No. 6 Ilaoa & To’omata (10:30 a.m.) on Nov. 6 with Black Roses featuring several former players that used to play for the Leone-based squad as recent as last year.
Fagasa Youth takes on Tafuna Jets A (12:30 p.m.) in the other group match with the former having last played on Oct. 16. They were off on the Oct. 23 and then last weekend due to the President’s Cup fixture and will need to shake off the rust before the playoffs get underway.
The Jets A are coming off of a 3-2 win against Pago B on Oct. 23.
The final pool contest has Utulei Youth taking on Pago B. Utulei is coming off of their biggest win of the season (4-0 against Ilaoa & To’omata) and need to find their top form with three more rounds to go in the regular season. They have one of the most talented squads but cannot seem to channel that talent into a cohesive unit from match to match.
Kiwi Soccers is off this weekend.
