Pago Youth A barely holds on to Cup

Thirteen minutes into the first half Rambo Tapui deftly scored inside the box on a shot that just beat the goalie to the inside of the near post.
But after that any future goals were for naught as both teams played to a stalemate.
Black Roses had about two one-on-one chances but great reflexes by Pago A’s goalie Moimoi Tualaulelei Jr. deflected each shot away from danger.
The challengers also played well defensively to keep Pago’s dangerous attackers from further adding to the score.
In other Division 1 matches it was Utulei Youth 4, Lion Heart A 1; Vaitogi United 5, Pago Youth B 1 and Tafuna Jets 2, Kiwi Soccers 0.
Utulei Youth (1-1) recorded their first win of the season while Lion Heart A (0-2) is on a two game slide.
Lion Heart A started the game strong by dominating with an aggressive attack mentality that saw them post more shots on goal than Utulei.
They had success going to the wings with Sam Kome and Fa’apouli Feagaimaali’i streaking down the sidelines and sending in crosses to their forwards.
Luckily for Utulei their goalie JP Fa’avae and his four defenders kept turning away the attacks. Utulei had good possession of the ball but no shots on goal but the first time they did they took advantage of it with Kaleopa Siligi scoring to make it 1-0.
Lion Heart A answered with a goal of their own but so did Utulei as they made it 2-1 going into the break.
In the second half the game was still a tough one with Utulei’s fighting hard to score the last two goals to make up the final tally of 4-1.
Pago Youth B’s youthful squad, the surprise of 2011 with the team featuring mostly high school-age players, is struggling two rounds into the 2012 season after sufferring its second loss of the season to Vaitogi United, 5-1.
Two goalie mistakes saw Vaitogi go up 2-0 as Pago B had a hard time containing its opponent’s speedsters Mikey Unasa and Eldon Sioka.
That trend continued for most of the match as Vaitogi won in dominating fashion.
Unasa and Marcus Ieremia scored two goals each for Vaitogi.
A goal apiece in both halves saw the Jets win their first game of the season while the loss was the first as well for Kiwi Soccers.
Sialao Taylor and Roy Luani scored for Tafuna in a very tough match between these two teams.
