Summer Youth titles up for grabs

There are only four teams each in the 12-14 Boys and 15-17 Girls divisions and seven for the 15-17 Boys. Lion Heart, Black Roses and Vailoatai Youth, respectively, are the defending champions of these divisions but are not fielding teams this year.
“All of the teams in these age groups played very competitively, especially in the 15-17 Boys’ bracket,” said FFAS CEO Tavita Taumua. “Most of these players are what feeds are youth national teams and this is a great competition to continue their development.”
Competing in the 12-14 Boys are Black Roses, Tafuna Jets, Green Bay and Atu’u Broncos; in the 15-17 Girls it’s Tafuna Jets; Vaiala Tongan; Kiwi Soccers and Green Bay while the 15-17 Boys consists of Black Roses, Utulei Youth, Kiwi Soccers, Vaitogi United, Green Bay, Vaiala Tongan and Pago Youth.
“I was pleased to see that a lot of our youth players that represented us in the past, the ones that have not gone over the age limit, were out there competing,” Taumua said. “We’ve got to keep them occupied with soccer until our next regional (OFC) youth competitions.”
