Lion Heart displaces Ilaoa & To’omata in the No. 3 spot while Black Roses moves into the No. 4 seed while idle Ilaoa & To’omata falls to 5th and out of contention for the championship.
The playoffs are to be held Thursday, April 22, 2010 at ASCC’s gym with No. 1 FC SKBC taking on No. 4 Black Roses and No. 2 Jets playing against No. 3 Lion Heart.
FC SKBC defeated Black Roses 5-3 during their Match Day 1 meet on February 23 with the latter having to come back from a 4-0 hole to make the match competitive in the second half.
Unfortunately for FC SKBC, their gunslinger, Gun Chul Kang, received his third yellow card of the competition and so he must sit out a one-game suspension. Kang is their top goal-scorer and his absence will be huge in this matchup.
As for the Jets and Lion Heart, the latter — made up of mostly high school students — shocked the much older and experienced Tafuna Jets squad 3-2 after taking a 2-0 first half lead.
Both teams are expected to field their full squads come game time.
Women’s Division
The division’s top two teams played a thrilling game that went down to the wire with No. 1 Black Roses edging No. 2 Utulei Youth 3-2 in their toughest game yet of the season.
The women’s season finale between Tafuna Jets and Ilaoa & To’omata enabled the former to leap frog the latter in the top 4 standings by way of goals difference.
With this change in positions, No.1 Black Roses will now play No. 4 Ilaoa & To’omata while No. 2 Utulei takes on No. 3 Jets.
Utulei trumped Tafuna 3-1 during their round-robin meeting while Black Roses crushed Ilaoa & To’omata 8-1 after a competitive, 1-1 first half.
