Black Roses wins women’s FFAS National Cup

Kiwi, holders of the cup for two weeks, scored first through Rosie Mano despite fielding only eight players to start off the match.
That lack of numbers turned out to be their undoing as Black Roses scored four straight to take control of the match with Lornalisa Sagapolutele and Angela Sao putting in two goals apiece for the winners.
By the time Kiwi managed to field a full squad Black Roses was leading 3-1 and even with a full team a comeback was not in the books for the former cup holders.
In other games it was Utulei 3, PanSa 0; Tafuna Jets 2, Ilaoa & To’omata 1; Green Bay 3, Lion Heart 0 and Vaiala Tongan 3, Pago Youth 0 by forefeit.
Black Roses will defend their cup for the first time on Sept. 8 as the National League rests this weekend for the first round of the 2012 FFAS President’s Cup Tournament.
UTULEI YOUTH 3, PANSA 0
This was a battle of undefeated teams and it was last year’s runner-up Utulei Youth coming out on top with a 3-0 win.
Utulei managed a 1-0 first half lead before scoring two goals in the latter to complete the game’s final tally.
Doreen Tome scored twice for Utulei.
TAFUNA JETS 2, ILAOA & TO’OMATA 1
Ilaoa & To’omata scored first but the Jets outlasted them in with a 2-1 win.
Apaula scored both goals for the Jets.
GREEN BAY 3, LION HEART 0
Lydia Ting and Tasi Alailesulu scored to help Green Bay post their first win of the league.
Green Bay sat out the weekend before with a bye and played strong against Lion Heart for the win
VAIALA TONGAN 3, PAGO YOUTH 0 (FORFEIT)
Vaiala Tongan won by forfeit over defending champs Pago Youth after the latter did not suit up the required seven players to start the match.
Pago Youth has yet to record a win three rounds into the season.
