Taputimu Youth atop standings after Match Day 3

Taputimu Youth leads Ilaoa & To’omata on goals differential (12-3) for the top spot in the 2018 FFAS Women’s National League standings after Match Day 3 on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at Pago Park Soccer Stadium.

Both teams have seven points each and both teams had similar results from last Saturday, 2-2 ties against their respective opponents. Taputimu Youth drew with PanSa 2-2 while Ilaoa & To’omata vs. Royal Puma ended with the same result, 2-2. There was no cup game with Pago Youth idle over the weekend.

In other games, it was Vaiala Tongan 1, Tafuna Jets 0; Utulei Youth 3, Black Roses 0 and Green Bay 5, Lion Heart 2.

Lion Heart will challenge for the cup this week against holders Pago Youth. Pago Youth took the cup away from Vaiala Tongan on Match Day 2 and had a bye last week.

TAPUTIMU YOUTH 2, PANSA 2

Jasmine Lagai and Salevu Filiva’a both scored for Taputimu Youth while Ati Faamau-Samuelu and Blanche Herrera scored for PanSa.

Taputimu Youth takes on Royal Puma this coming Saturday while PanSa is off with a bye.

ILAOA & TO’OMATA 2, ROYAL PUMA 2

Ilaoa & To’omata managed to stay on pace with Taputimu Youth points-wise with the draw against Royal Puma.

Ama Faleao and Amanda Mataia scored for Ilaoa & To’omata while Marylou Collins and Darlene Pani scored for Royal Puma. Ilaoa & To’omata takes on the Jets this weekend while Royal Puma plays against Taputimu Youth.

VAIALA TONGAN 1, TAFUNA JETS 0

Vaiala Tongan rebounded from their loss in the cup game a week ago with a 1-0 win over the Tafuna Jets.

Tina Pouli scored the lone goal in the first half to help Vaiala Tongan win the game. They will take on Utulei Youth this week while the Jets play against Ilaoa & To’omata.

UTULEI YOUTH 3, BLACK ROSES 0

Loto Siatu’u helped Utulei Youth win over Black Roses 3-0 after scoring a brace of goals — one in each half — last Saturday.

Utulei Youth will play Vaiala Tongan this Saturday while Black Roses takes on Green Bay.

GREEN BAY 5, LION HEART 2

A close, 1-1 game in the first half ended in favor of Green Bay in the second after scoring four unanswered goals to win 5-2 against Lion Heart.

Green Bay had five different scorers on the day — Allaynah Gray, Elizabeth Moananu, El-Shaddu Malaefono, Jacinta Ioane and Angel Ting. Scoring for Lion Heart were Pauline Harvey and Tete’e Peters.
