Pago Youth extends lead; Utulei Youth wins

Pago Youth has extended its lead in the championship run for the 2016 FFAS National League after a hard-fought, 3-0 win over Vaiala Tongan on Match Day 11 of the competition.

In the meantime, Utulei Youth won its first game of the Top 5 group that will determine the 2016 title holders after being idle in the first round. They beat Lion Heart 1-0, ending any chances for the latter to grab this year’s title.

In Bottom 5 games, Green Bay drew with Black Roses 1-1 while Ilaoa & To’omata beat PanSa 4-0 after being idle the weekend before.

UTULEI YOUTH 1, LION HEART 0

Ne’emia Kaleopa came through for Utulei Youth yet again, scoring the game winner for his team in the second half.

Lion Heart has lost two straight since the Top 5 group games started. Utulei Youth is second with three points, and with one goal to their name.

PAGO YOUTH 3, VAIALA TONGAN 0

Despite the score, it was a much closer game with Pago Youth struggling to break through Vaiala Tongan’s very stout defense that was led by Sione Moeaki.

Rambo Tapui broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the first half, and Pago Youth finally wore down their opponents by scoring twice in a span of two minutes in the last period.

Nissan Penitusi and Sam Tualaulelei scored for Pago Youth in the last three minutes of the game.
