Pago Youth A and Utulei Youth tie 2-2

Pago Youth A and Utulei Youth played to a 2-2 draw in the men’s cup game during Round 11 of the 2018 FFAS National League on Saturday, Nov. 24, at Pago Park Soccer Stadium.

It was the last round of the season with the top 4 teams for the playoffs now finalized — No. 1 Pago Youth (9-1-1), No. 2 Ilaoa & To’omata (8-1-2), No. 3 Utulei Youth (6-5-0) and No. 4 Taputimu Youth (7-1-3). In other games last Saturday, it was Ilaoa & To’omata 2, Royal Puma 0; Vaiala Tongan 6, Black Roses 1 and Taputimu Youth 3-0 in a forfeited win over Pago Youth B.

The rest of the standings are No. 5 Vaiala Tongan (6-0-5), No. 6 Royal Puma (6-0-5), No. 7 PanSa (4-1-6), No. 8 Green Bay (4-0-7) and No. 10 Pago Youth B (3-0-8). The other two teams, the Tafuna Jets and Lion Heart, do not place because they were disqualified from the competition.

Utulei Youth has completed the season as the only undefeated team, however, they are third in the standings because five of their games ended in ties.

On Saturday, December 1, 2018, No. 1 Pago Youth takes on No. 4 Taputimu Youth while No. 2 Ilaoa & To’omata plays against No. 3 Utulei Youth, with the winners advancing to the championship game scheduled for next week.


It was a duel between Palauni Tapusoa of Utulei Youth and Rambo Tapui of Pago Youth A as both players scored a brace of goals in the game that ended in a 2-2 draw.

Tapusoa scored in the first 10 minutes of the game for Utulei only to have Tapui equalize on a penalty kick in the first half.

In the second half, Tapusoa scored in the 62nd minute, but Tapui converted his second PK with just four minutes to spare in the game. Utulei Youth played with only 10 players in the last 22 minutes after a red card took out their 11th player.


Shane Ah Hing (57th), and Joseph Koroiadi (58th) scored back-to-back goals in the second half to help Ilaoa & To’omata beat Royal Puma in a closely contested match.


Vaiala Tongan closed out their 2018 campaign with a 6-1 win against Black Roses, a win, and a loss by Royal Puma that pushed them up a spot to No. 5 in the final standings for the 2018 season.

Thellen Leota completed a hat trick for Vaiala Tongan while Petuliki Pouli scored twice.
