Summer Youth League 2015 kicks off

“We are looking forward to another exciting league with lots of prizes to be handed out at the end,” said FFAS President, Faiivae Iuli Alex Godinet. “So enjoy the games, play well, play safe and most important of all, have fun!”
The number of teams in the competition has grown this year by five with 38 altogether. In 2014 there were 33 teams.
In the 5-8 group there are six teams competing; 11 in the 9-11 division; seven in the Boys’ 12-14; five in the Girls 15-17 and nine in the Boys 15-17 bracket.
The games are scheduled to end on July 18.
Wins and losses are not recorded for the young age groups while the Boys’ 12-14 and higher will play in a round-robin format to be followed by playoffs.
“The younger age groups are very fun to watch and you can see that if they continue with this sport as they grow up they can become very good players,” said FFAS Competition Manger, Leulua’iali’i Uinifareti Aliva.
“The children are so excited about playing that they come to our field and start playing right away before the games being,” said FFAS Technical Director Rupeni Luvu. “It is going to be a joy watching them all play.”
