Utulei Youth emerges as dominant force

They have convincingly won two games during group play and last week Utulei trounced Vaiala Tongan 10-0 for a commanding lead in Pool A.
In other Pool A games it was a 2-2 draw for Lion Heart B and Pago Youth A, 4-2 for Tafuna Jets B versus PanSa and Taputimu Youth beat Vaitogi United 4-2.
POOL A
UTULEI YOUTH 10, VAIALA TONGAN 0
Kaleopa Siligi led the charger with six total goals in the match. He scored five in the first half and Ne’emia Kaleopa added a brace.
Utulei is tied with Taputimu Youth points-wise but have a 16-4 goals differential advantage. Only the top two teams from each pool advance to the playoffs.
LION HEART B 2, PAGO YOUTH A 2
Pago Youth A are the kings of 11-a-side soccer in American Samoa but when it comes to futsal it is a title they struggle to win.
Two weeks into the competition and they played their first match with a disappointing 2-2 draw.
This week Pago A went into the break leading 1-0 before increasing their lead to 2-0 in the 26th minute of the match. But in a span of six minutes Lion Heart B’s Iolamo Kome scored a brace of goals for the tie.
TAFUNA JETS B 4, PANSA 2
The Jets B held off PanSa thanks to a hat trick by Ipa Hunt. Fred Maiava scored a brace for PanSa.
TAPUTIMU YOUTH 4, VAITOGI UNITED 2
Vaitogi United tried to mount a comeback in the last half after a 3-0 deficit at the end of the first half but Taputimu Youth managed to defend well for their second victory of the season. Pan Kaleopa scored twice for Taputimu.
POOL B
The top two spots are in hot contention with four teams all tied up with six points apiece.
Lion Heart A and FC SKBC are the top two teams according to a differential in goals, followed by Pago Youth B at No. 3 and Atu’u Broncos.
In games from Match Day 2 it was 5-4 in the Atu’u Broncos versus Black Roses match, Lion Heart A beat Ilaoa & To’omata 1-0, Pago Youth B versus Tafuna Jets A ended 6-0 and FC SKBC trounced Kiwi Soccers 8-2.
ATU’U BRONCOS 5, BLACK ROSES 4
Black Roses came up just short in a furious comeback effort after falling behind 5-1 six minutes into the second half.
They made it 5-2 in the 31st minute after a Sam Ulu goal and in the 35th and 38th Henry Lesa completed his hat trick to make it a 5-4 game.
However, with only two minutes remaining they could not complete the comeback for either a tie or win as the Broncos did enough to hold off Black Roses for the win.
LION HEART A 1, ILAOA & TO’OMATA 0
The only goal of the match came with a minute remaining in the first half when Lion Heart A’s Ruben Luvu scored.
After that it was a see-saw of a battle with both teams playing a very competitive match that ended 1-0.
PAGO YOUTH B 6, TAFUNA JETS A 1
Pago Youth B took a 3-0 lead going into the break and they never looked back, winning commandingly against the Jets 1 6-1. Mark Ieremia scored a hat trick for Pago B while Paupau Penitusi scored a brace.
FC SBKC 8, KIWI SOCCERS 2
Kiwi struck first with a goal three minutes into the match but it was FC SKBC that dominated the game as they equalized two minutes later and then took the lead for good in the 11th minute.
It was 3-1 after the first half and SKBC scored five more goals in the second for a resounding 8-2 victory. Pedro Diaz scored four goals while Kenny Tupuola got two of his own.
