FC SKBC & Black Roses win 7-a-side league

Football Club South Korean Baptist Church came into the semi-finals and final of the FFAS men’s 7-A-Side League 2010 with a chip on their shoulder.
During the early morning hours of Saturday, June 26, 2010, their country of origin was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup South Africa™ Round of 16 in a 2-1 loss to Uruguay.
Five hours later they channeled that chip into a positive outing by beating Pago Youth 2-1 to win the championship.
On the women’s side of things, Black Roses won their 5th consecutive FFAS competition championship, dispatching new club member Kiwi Soccers 5-0.
The first order of business for FC SKBC was to take on the team they lost 2-1 during Round 9 of the round-robin competition.
They took care of business by dispatching by beating them behind goals from Gun Chul Kang and Jin Woong Lee.
Pago Youth reached the final by beating Vailoa Youth 1-0 on Faimalo Rambo Tapui’s lone goal.
In the final Kang scored both goals in helping lead his team to the win and also earning the most valuable player award.
In the game for 3rd place, Black Roses defeated Vailoa Youth 2-0.
Black Roses showed that they are still the class of the division with no end in sight of their domination as they trounced Kiwi Soccers 5-0.
Angela Sa’o led the way with three goals while sisters Filiga and Meleane Ioapo added one each.
Meleane Ioapo earned the women’s MVP award.
Black Roses reached the final after winning by forfeit over the Tafuna Jets because the latter did not have enough players while Kiwi Soccers squeaked by Ilaoa & To’omata 1-0.
