Lion Heart wins men’s 7-A-Side League

The game’s lone goal came with less than four minutes to play in the second half on a curving shot by Sam Kome that found the near post and beating the goalie’s fingers by just inches.
FC SKBC led the game in shots on goal and ball possession but could never score, even when they had a one-on-one and two-on-one situation with Lion Heart goalie Kasteel Tasele.
It was a disappointing loss to the league’s top-seeded team but great defending from the league’s Most Valuable Player, Rueben Luvu, who helped Lion Heart hold off SKBC.
SKBC won by forfeit against PanSa because of a no-show in the semi-finals while Lion Heart edged Vaiala Tongan 2-1 in overtime after a goal-less draw during regulation.
Vaiala Tongan bumped Utulei Youth out of the playoffs with a win by forfeit over the Tafuna Jets during the last round of competition.
Goalie for the Tongan team based in Pava’ia’i, Tevita Taliaoli, was awarded with the league’s Golden Glove award.
Lion Heart’s Lesolo Peato Kalio was named the men’s Coach of the competition during the awards ceremony conducted by FFAS’ executive members, Vice-President Sandra Fruean, Rev. Ioane Evagelia and Amio Mavaega-Luvu.
