President’s Cup group stage ends

Utulei Youth, Lion Heart and Ilaoa & To’omata came out of their pools as the No. 1 teams with a draw held at the end of the competition on Saturday, November 22, 2014 to determine the next stage of playoffs.
In that draw, Lion Heart drew the No. 1 seed while Utulei Youth and Ilaoa & To’omata drew the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds.
That means Lion Heart earns a bye and a free pass to the championship game set for November 29 while Utulei takes on Ilaoa & To’omata in the one-off semi-final scheduled for Nov. 27, Thanksgiving Day.
Utulei Youth topped pool A after beating Atu’u Broncos on the final day of the competition 7-4. Had Atu’u won they would have gone instead on to represent their group.
In Pool B Lion Heart was the clear winner while Ilaoa & To’omata won Pool C.
Last year’s champions, FC SKBC, did not make it out of Pool C.
