FIFA MA Grassroots Course underway

“I know you can put all you will learn to good use, especially with elementary teachers taking part because that is where our grassroots comes from, the elementary schools.”
FIFA Instructor Paul Toohey is conducting the course with assistance from FFAS Technical Director Rupeni Luvu.
“When you talk about grassroots, you’re talking about the future of (soccer),” Toohey said. “The young children you’re in charge of will be thinking of joining the national team when they grow up and it is your job to create that job for them.”
Participants in the course include FFAS Member Club coaches and coaches from public and private elementary schools and high schools as well.
“This is a great opportunity for the school coaches to learn from an experienced coach such as Mr. Toohey and we are looking forward to seeing how their school teams perform once they’ve completed this course,” said FFAS CEO Tavita Taumua.
Practical and Theoretical sessions will be held throughout the five-day course and each participant was issued a FIFA Grassroots text book, DVD and apparel to wear during the class.
Toohey, as he told the class, went through a bit of an adventure getting to American Samoa. He was stuck in Samoa for two days because of the Cyclone warning over the weekend but is thankful for arriving safely in the territory.
