Top teams go head-to-head in FFAS 5-A-Side League

Utulei Youth beat Ilaoa & To’omata 4-2 in the men’s open division while the women’s version of this match up saw Utulei and Ilaoa & To’omata tied 2-2. In the Men’s U-18, the two best teams in Ilaoa & To’omata and Lion Heart drew 1-1 on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Pago Park Soccer Stadium.
Utulei Youth and Ilaoa & To’omata were on a collision course with one another as the best teams of the division, and it just happened that they met in the early rounds of the league.
The met in Round 4 last Saturday and heading into the match both were the most prolific scoring squads so far with Ilaoa & To’omata scoring 26 times and Utulei Youth with 21 goals scored.
It was a duel between the two top scores as well with Utulei Youth’s Kaleopa Siligi taking on Ilaoa & To’omata’s Gun Kang. Both players turned it into a one-on-one battle with Siligi making Kang dance while on the attack and the latter returning the favor.
But in the end Siligi was the dominator, scoring a hat trick to a brace from Kang. The Ilaoa & To’omata loss turned a three-way race for the No. 1 spot into a two-team heat with Vaiala Tongan and Utulei the only unbeaten teams in the division.

There are three top teams in the women’s division and two of them played to a 2-2 draw last Saturday when Utulei Youth faced off against Ilaoa & To’omata. The third team in this high level is the Tafuna Jets.
Ilaoa & To’omata jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first half only to see Utulei Youth fight back with desperation in the second half to tie the game 2-2 in the last minute of the match.
But it was a game of missed scoring opportunities by Utulei Youth as they could not convert many a time in both halves of the match.
That tie has Utulei Youth and Ilaoa & To’omata dropping down a slot each, to No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, while Tafuna moves into the top position. Lion Heart is fourth, followed by PanSa and Green Bay. Pago Youth is now out after reaching it’s third forfeit, grounds for dismissal as stated in the competition’s Rules & Regulations.

Ilaoa & To’omata and Lion Heart are still No. 1 and 2 in the division after a thrilling 1-1 draw last Saturday.
Both teams played to a 0-0, first half draw before negating one another in the second half again with single goals to complete the game’s tally.
With Lion Heart at No. 1 and Ilaoa & To’omata at No. 2, Vaiala Tongan is third, followed by Utulei Youth, Green Bay and then Pago Youth in the six-team competition.
