Major changes in men’s Pool A, none in Pool B

In Pool B the standings are mostly the same as that of a week ago.
POOL A
Black Roses blasted Kiwi Soccers 9-0 while Utulei Youth beat Ilaoa & To’omata 4-0, thus changing the top 4 picture with Black Roses moving into the top position for the first time this season.
The loss drops Kiwi Soccers down a spot to second place while Utulei moves up to to fourth. Idle Fagasa Youth drops from No. 2 to three while Tafuna Jets is at No. 5. Ilaoa & To’omata, last week’s No. 4, falls down two places to No. 6 while Pago Youth B is seventh.
The other pool match had Jets A edge Pago B 3-2.
BLACK ROSES 9, KIWI SOCCERS 0
Kiwi Soccers loses its top spot for the first time in the competition after holding it for the four previous weeks.
Black Roses, the defending champs, are in familiar territory with the group’s No. 1 designation thanks to a hat trick by Jerry Iosefa and a brace by Dion Ott.
UTULEI YOUTH 4, ILAOA & TO’OMATA 0
The oldest player on the field, Penaia ‘Mau’ Kaleopa, snuck one past the goalie in the 32nd minute of the match to put Utulei ahead 1-0 going into the break.
In the second half their climb to No. 4 in the pool standings was secured by a brace by JP Fa’avae.
TAFUNA JETS A 3, PAGO YOUTH B 2
Fagaloa Luavasa scored the game winner only a minute after Pago’s equalizer as all the scoring came in the first half alone.
The Jets A had jumped to a 2-0 lead only to see Pago B storm back to tie the match before Luavasa provided the winner.
POOL B
Vailoatai Youth continues its dominance of the group after decimating Tafuna Jets B 15-1 in a week that saw no changes in the standings.
In other games it was Lion Heart 2, PanSa 1, Pago Youth A 4, Green Bay 1 and FC SKBC 2, Lauli’i 1.
Vailoatai is No. 1 with Pago A second, FC SKBC third and Lauli’i at No. 4. Lion Heart is 5th, followed by PanSa, Green Bay and Tafuna Jets B.
LION HEART 2, PANSA 1
Lion Heart is just a point away from moving to No. 4 in the standings after winning only their second pool match by holding on to beat PanSa 2-1 in a tightly, and at times hotly, contested game.
Brothers Junior and Frankie Luvu led Lion Heart to the win with the former, and elder of the two, scoring eight minutes into the second half. Frankie’s score made it 2-0 in the 78th before PanSa cut that deficit by half three minutes later.
FC SKBC 2, LAULI’I 1
The South Korean Baptist Church squad scored two goals in the first half and then could not penetrate what was a great defensive front by Lauli’i in the second half.
If not for the goalie mistake in not securing a shot by SKBC’s Jinwoong Lee in the 30th minute the match might have ended in a 1-1 tie.
Iose Moemoe provided a late goal for Lauli’i but their frantic efforts in the dying minutes of the match could not produce an equalizer.
PAGO YOUTH A 4, GREEN BAY 1
Pago A kept abreast Vailoatai Youth in wins, if not in goals, by securing their 5th straight win in a 4-1 showing.
Pago A’s Nu’u Leota scored a twice in the win.
VAILOATAI YOUTH 15, TAFUNA JETS B 1
Ryan Petaia, Tanielu Tanielu and Faiaai Kerisiano scored hat tricks to lead Vailoatai to a whopping 15-1 win against the hapless Jets B.
Oi Sinapoa and Tolu Malaeulu provided two goals apiece for Vailoatai as well.
