Women’s cup travels for 4th straight week

The women’s FFAS National Cup of the 2017 National League has changed hands for the fourth week in a row, this time going home with Vaiala Tongan after a 6-0 win over Ilaoa & To’omata on Sept. 23.

This was the second time Ilaoa & To’omata defended the cup and lost it this season, giving it away on the first week of the competition to Taputimu Youth.  Taputimu then lost it to the Tafuna Jets, who then gave it back to Ilaoa & To’omata on week three.

The Jets have a shot at the cup again as they will challenge for it this coming Saturday.

In other games last Saturday, it was Black Roses 1, Tafuna Jets 0; PanSa 3, Pago Youth 0; Taputimu Youth 0, Green Bay 0 and Royal Puma won by forfeit over Lion Heart because the latter did not have enough players to start the game.

VAIALA TONGAN 6, ILAOA & TO’OMATA 0

Vaiala Tongan made quick work of their opponents with three goals in the first half, two of them coming in the early goings of the game.

Oloataua Tofaeono scored a hat trick in leading Vaiala Tongan to victory, while Elcy Lui contributed with a brace of goals.

At the moment Vaiala Tongan is third in the standings while Ilaoa & To’omata is in 9th  place.

BLACK ROSES 1, TAFUNA JETS 0

Audrey Hall goaled one of two penalty kicks in the game to help Black Roses to a 1-0 win over the Jets.  For the second PK, she had it careening off of the cross bar.

The win has Black Roses sitting at the top of the standings with four wins in as many games, while Tafuna, last year’s 9-a-side champions, are in 5th place.

PANSA 3, PAGO YOUTH 0

Lelamay Kerisiano led PanSa with three goals to complete her hat trick in their 3-0 win.

Kerisiano scored her brace in the first half in a competitive game despite the score.  PanSa is currently seventh in the standings, and Pago Youth eighth.

TAPUTIMU YOUTH 0, GREEN BAY 0

The scoreless tie in this game has Green Bay sitting in fourth place in the standings, while Taputimu Youth is sixth.

Both teams had their chances in the game but excellent goalkeeping had the game end 0-0.

ROYAL PUMA 3, LION HEART 0 (FORFEIT)

Royal Puma is second overall in the competition with three wins and one tie four weeks into the season.

Lion Heart is in 10th place and are still searching for their first win.
