Pago Youth wins easily against Royal Puma, 4-1

Pago Youth won easily against Royal Puma in a 4-1 defense of the Men’s FFAS National Cup on Match Day 9 of the FFAS National League 2017.

In other games, Lion Heart and Green Bay played to a 2-2 draw, and it was PanSa 2, Vaiala Tongan A 2; Utulei Youth 5, Vaiala Tongan B 2, and Taputimu Youth 3, Ilaoa & To’omata 0 in a win by forfeit.

Pago Youth (8-1-0) is still the top team in the standings with 25 points, followed by Lion heart (6-2-1) with 20, Royal Puma (6-1-2) with 19, Vaiala Tongan A (5-1-3) with 16, Green Bay (4-3-2) with 15, and Black Roses (4-2-3) at No. 6 with 14 points. Sitting at No. 7 is Ilaoa & To’omata (4-0-5) with 12 points, No. 8 is PanSa (3-2-4) with 11 points, No. 9 is Taputimu Youth (3-0-6) with 9 points, No. 10 is Utulei Youth (3-0-6) and No. 11 is Vaiala Tongan B (1-0-7) with three points.

Each team has two games remaining on the regular season of the 2017 league.

PAGO YOUTH 4, ROYAL PUMA 1

Pago Youth set the tone early with a goal inside of 10 minutes from the starting whistle, thanks to Rambo Tapui’s first of four goals scored in the game.

At the half Pago Youth was up 2-0, and Tapui scored two more goals in the second half before Royal Puma’s consolation goal was scored by Pio Punefu.

Pago Youth takes on Black Roses in this week’s Cup challenge match, while Royal Puma takes on Lion Heart.

LION HEART 2, GREEN BAY 2

An own-goal by Green Bay’s goalie turned this game into a draw instead of a win for the Faga’alu based team.

The own goal came in the last 10 minutes of the game, and Lion Heart was able to walk away with the draw instead of a loss.

Lion Heart plays against Royal Puma this week while Green Bay takes on Vaiala Tongan B.

VAIALA TONGAN A 2, PANSA 2

Sione Moeaki headed in a game-tying goal in the last minute of the game to stave off a potential loss to PanSa last Saturday.

At the half it was a scoreless game, but Tafiaga Fiamanu and Faiai Keresiano put PanSa up 2-0, before Moeaki scored his brace of goals to end the game in a draw.

Vaiala Tongan A will play Utulei Youth while PanSa is off with a bye.

UTULEI YOUTH 5, VAIALA TONGAN B 2

Kome Tomasi completed a hat trick to help Utulei Youth win 5-2 against Vaiala Tongan B.

Elama Fa’atonu scored the other two goals for Utulei Youth. Michael Tafua and Sonny Haylord scored for Vaiala Tongan B.

Utulei takes on Vaiala Tongan A while Tongan B plays against Green Bay.

TAPUTIMU YOUTH 3, ILAOA & TO’OMATA 0

Taputimu Youth won by forfeit over Ilaoa & To’omata after the latter could not field the required number of players (9) to start the game.

Taputimu will play against Royal Puma on Nov. 4 while Ilaoa & To’omata faces Lion Heart.
