First Training Session for Referee Department after a long break.
On February 23rd, the American Samoa Government declared a Code Red Lockdown. Therefore, all sports, outdoor or indoor activities were suspended.
February 28, a modification to the lockdown was announced and outdoor and indoor gatherings were allowed but with conditions to follow.
The Referee Department saw this as an opportunity to get back on track with their physical and mental preparations for the upcoming leagues.
“It feels great to be back on track after being apart from my team for 3 months. My team and I were not together physically, but each individual had their own training and were able to send me their monthly training log,” Sione says.
“We were able to stay connected through Emails, Facebook Messenger and Zoom Calls during the beginning of the code red lockdown. Now, we’re planning to have weekly training and workshops for referees to further the development.”
Sione’s last message: “If you’re interested in joining our Referee Department, please go ahead and contact our office. It is open to the public. There’s no discrimination in our referee family and we allow everyone.”
