Faiivae elected to OFC vice-president post

Sen. Faiivae Iuli Alex Godinet, president of FFAS, was elected Vice-President of the Oceania Football Confederation during the OFC Executive Committee meeting in Russia on July 13, 2018.

“It is a great honor for me to be elected as a vice-president of OFC,” Sen. Faiivae said. “I am deeply humbled by this selection by my peers in the Oceania region.”

Faiivae has been a member of the OFC executive committee for several years, and president of the association since 2008. He is one of the longest serving presidents of the 11 OFC member associations. Faiivae is also a member of the FIFA Association’s Committee that oversees the 211 FIFA Member Associations.

Faiivae also holds several titles in the government, and is active in community and religious organizations.

Earlier this year he was elected senator of the Fofo district, and serves as chairman of the Senate Education committee. A long-time member of the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority (ASTCA) board, he was made chairman of that organization this year. He is also chairman of the American Samoa Government’s Scholarship and Financial Aid Board, and president of the A.S. Humanities Council’s board of directors.

He chairs the FOFO County Coalition Drug-Free Communities Support program, a non-profit community-based group that takes on social issues affecting the youth such as underage drinking, drugs and tobacco.

Faiivae is also an active member of his church, and holds the mantle of chairman of the Diocese of Samoa Pago Pago Catholic Church.
