Sharks J-V inch closer to third title

They take to the field for their last game of the 2012-2013 ASHSAA girls soccer season against the Faga’itua Vikings with a league-best 12 points.
Faga’itua is second with six points while the third and final team in the division, the Tafuna Warriors, are yet to win a match.
Faga’itua has two games left and are set to close the J-V season on February 2 against the Warriors. However, even if they should win against Samoana and Tafuna, they would have to win by phenomenal margins as they would tie the Sharks in points, 12 each, but would need to overcome a 29-2 goal differential.
In the only other game held on January 29, the Tafuna varsity squad won easily against Nu’uuli Voc-Tech, 7-0.
Samoana, the defending champs, also seeking a three-peat, are tied with Faga’itua, Tafuna and the South Pacific Academy Dolphins in the points department with six apiece.
The difference in goals scored and goals against sets teams apart in the standings with Samoana taking the top spot (10), followed by Faga’itua (5), Tafuna (3) and SPA (-3).
Games scheduled for January 31 are Faga’itua vs. Samoana (J-V) and Samoana vs. SPA (Varsity).
On Saturday February 2, Tafuna take on Faga’itua in the J-V division while the varsity matches will see Tafuna vs. Faga’itua and Nu’uuli Voc-Tech vs. Fa’asao-Marist.
