Green Bay wrests Cup away from Tafuna Jets

In the only other Division 2 match, Pago Youth squeaked by Black Roses 4-3 while Vaitogi United was off with a bye. In Division 1 games, Utulei Youth retained their FFAS Cup with their first victory of the season, a 7-0 whipping of PanSa while FC SKBC edged Vaiala Tongan 2-1 and Lion Heart and Ilaoa & To’omata drew 2-2.
The women’s 7-A-Side league was off last Saturday and will resume this week.
DIVISION 2
GREEN BAY 3, TAFUNA JETS 2 (CUP)
Green Bay led 2-0 at the end of the first half before the Jets came back to tie it 2-2 in the second.
Sam scored the game winner for Green Bay as they celebrated taking the Cup away in a close 3-2 win over the Jets.
Challenging for the Division 2 FFAS Cup this Saturday is Vaitogi United.
PAGO YOUTH 4, BLACK ROSES 3
Thanks to Ailao Tualaulelei Jr. and Rafael Rocha, Pago Youth managed to squeak by Black Roses 4-3 as both players scored twice last Saturday.
Alapati Sula scored twice for Black Roses.
Pago Youth takes on the Tafuna Jets this Saturday while Black Roses is off with a bye.
DIVISION 1
There is a logjam of teams for the No. 1 spot in the division as Utulei Youth, Ilaoa & To’omata, Lion Heart and FC SKBC all have four points after two games into the season.
By goals differential, the standings are Utulei, Ilaoa & To’omata, Lion Heart and FC SKBC with Vaiala Tongan and PanSa bringing up the rear.
UTULEI YOUTH 7, PANSA 0 (CUP)
Utulei Youth cruised to their first victory of the season with a 6-0 whipping of PanSa during the Division 1 FFAS Cup Challenge match.
In their first game Utulei had to come back from behind to tie 2-2 against Lion Heart.
Kaleopa Siligi scored twice for Utulei Youth.
LION HEART 2, ILAOA & TO’OMATA 2
It was a 1-1 first half and the second ended with a 2-2 score between these two contenders for this year’s title.
FC SKBC 2, Vaiala Tongan 1
SKBC edged Vaiala Tongan for their first win of the season as well after seeing their potential, opening weekend win end in a draw against Utulei Youth on September 18, 2015.
Sione Mau scored both goals for SKBC, one in each half including the game winner after the first half ended in a 1-1 draw.
